Why do supermarkets never have ripe bananas for sale? When was the last time you were able to purchase a properly ripened banana, full yellow with brown spots, at your local supermarket and eat it right away? For us, that’s never happened! Why are fruit lovers denied that experience while meat is always available and ready to eat without having to wait five days?
Ryan investigates this perpetual problem by questioning the produce clerks at Whole Foods Market. As it turns out, Whole Foods has a policy of not allowing their produce clerks to put out any bananas that have brown spots, essentially preventing their customers from being able to buy ripe fruit that they can eat right away.
