Mac Danzig spoke at Texas VegFest about the success of his recent conversion to an 80/10/10 style vegan diet, rich in raw fruits and vegetables. However, fully raw evangelist Andrew Perlot thinks that Mac’s speech somehow proclaims the high carb raw food diet as the best for those who want to “top out in athletic and mental performance”. For the rest of us eating raw til’ 4, or worse, it seems we are just out of luck and will never achieve our athletic potential.
Is Mac Danzig really making such a bold claim? Or is Andrew hearing what he wants to hear, despite the actual words from Mac? Have Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and Roger Federer all failed to achieve their respective athletic potentials because of their inferior non raw vegan diets? Can only raw vegans truly achieve top athletic performance? Why must some raw foodists be so fanatical about their supposed superiority to all others?
